Hi everyone,

I thought it would be interesting to share quotes from plays or playwrites. I'll start with a few and you can add your own or you can tell me what you think of my choices.
Just getting a conversation going.

who loves to talk about anything theater...

All the world 's a stage, and all the men and women merely players. They have their exits and their entrances; And one man in his time plays many parts." Shakespeare - As You Like It

This above all: to thine own self be true". William Shakespeare - Hamlet

If I accept you as you are, I will make you worse; however if I treat you as though you are what you are capable of becoming, I help you become thatJohann Wolfgang von Goethe

What success I achieved in the theater is due to the fact that I have always worked just as hard when there were ten people in the house as when there were thousands. Just as hard in Springfield, Illinois as on Broadway.Bill Bojangles Robinson

"Be not afraid of greatness: some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them". William Shakespeare - Twelfth Night

"Good Night, Good night! Parting is such sweet sorrow, that I shall say good night till it be morrow." William Shakespeare - Romeo and Juliet Sorry I couldn't resist.

Great quotes! I REALLLLLY like the one about hard work. It's so true!!! I loved them all... but that was probably my favorite!

I was reading that and was like: "So THAT's where 'Wicked' gets it from.... huh."

Never watched that musical myself, but I do have the soundtrack and one of the songs has "Are people born Wicked? or do they have wickedness thrust upon them?"

Woops! clicked "publish comment" too soon...

"Good Night, Good night! Parting is such sweet sorrow, that I shall say good night till it be morrow."

Stupid question, BUT-- Was Romeo and Juliet ever a musical play? I never got to read the play, and the only rendition I ever saw was the one on "Wishbone." I think I need to catch myself up on the classics...

Aaannnd... to add to the theater quotes---

"Fear can
Turn to love - you'll
learn to see, to
find the man
behind the
monster: this . . .
repulsive
carcass, who
seems a beast, but secretly
dreams of beauty,
secretly . . .
secretly . . .

Oh, Christine . . ."

The only musical version of Romeo & Juliet that I can think of is West Side Story.

I loved Phantom! Maybe someone could be the phantom on our float!
