Anyone interested in doing a float for the King Frost Parade?

I thought it would be fun to do a float for the King Frost parade to advertise the movie theater and the Imaginatory Theater Company. My idea is to have us all come up with costumes for famous movie stars or characters...like Judy Garland, Scarlett O'Hara, Luke Skywalker .... what do you think...anyone game? Mrs. H has a flatbed truck we can use and we can get a sound system to play Hooray for Hollywood or There's no Business Like Show Business.

Let's chat about it.

I think that would be an awesome idea. I know Bethany has a Princess Leia costume she made which is very authentic. If that wasn't enough "Star Wars" we could drag Mike along in his Jango Fett costume... What kind of props were you thinking about making/getting for the float? Like Hollywood lights and glam, or what?

That sounds like it would be a blast! A lot of the stuff at the parade seems kinda negative and dark, but if we could do something fun and true...that would be a blast! I've got this super glitzy dress I got a couple years ago for a Hollywood dress up thing at school. I'll pass the word on to Will and Jeff, but I for one think that sounds like a great idea!

I think the Hollywood lights and glam might be easy to do. Kind of like that theater where all the stars have their footprints. What do you think?

Livie Lightyear said...

Definately 'yes.' Lights are easy enough to get. I mean: We have a bazillion and one Christmas lights... Hm.. I'm trying to think what that theater looks like. I'm gonna haveta Google it for more ideas...

We are willing to help with the King Frost Float, it will be exciting!
Just tell us where and when, our van is now "fixed" so we will be able to get there. Praise God!
We also have a light-saber, if needed.

i know a ton of guys with light-sabers too...haha...maybe this is gonna turn into a star wars themed float!

Ha, that would be awesome. I know Geoff might go as Napolean Dynamite and do the whole dance (1. If you don't know who that is, good, and 2. I know he's not a famous character, but still). Man, that would be totally sweet to do. I'll think of a character.

Sarah wants to be Shirley Temple and Alex wants to be Roy Rodgers...we'll have to put a spring pony on the truck : )

Joseph said...

Well, since they are little enough, how about I play the pony? That at least gives me a character. Or what do you guys think I should do?

Livie Lightyear said...

Joseph, I think it would be awesome if you picked a famous guitar player and brought your acoustic along. x3 I think Nick would be perfect as John Wayne xD

Imaginatory Theater said...

Well, there's Rhett Butler or Grouch Marx, Dick Van Dyke, Gene Kelly, Errol Flynn? OR you should be the singing Cowboy Roy Rodgers and we'll find someone littler for Alex...maybe Spanky (lil Rascals)?
I'll keep thinking.

I'm thinking about being Audrey Hepburn from My Fair Lady, but I don't have a dress like the one she wore for the horse race. So does anyone have any other ideas for me?

How about Indiana Jones for one of the guys?

Livie Lightyear said...

I was thinking, (dangerous gesture, I know) wouldn't it be fun to go as Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers? I'd have to have one of the guys help me out on that one. Anyone interested?

Livie Lightyear said...

Oh, and Geoff as Napoleon Dynamite would be hilarious!!

Joseph said...

I don't know. Dick van Dyke can be dangerous for me. I like the idea though. Livie, I am sure I know you, but for the life of me I can't place you. Could you say your name? I know I'll be like "oh you dinglehead" when I hear it. Oh, could anybody explain to me the names of the actors/resses? I am hollywood illiterate.

Indiana Jones is a character Harrison Ford did (Temple of Doom - he's an archeologist (sp?) who looks for things like the holy grail. Errol Flynn was a famous swashbuckler -- he play Robin Hood, the Black Arrow. Gene Kelly...singing in the rain.

Fred Astaire and Ginger Rodgers...famous hollywood dancing duo.

Livvie is Oliva ... she's Mrs. Cratchit...right?

Livie Lightyear said...

yup, I'm Mrs. C... even though I've been trying to change my role to Mr. C... x3

Yeah, and if that doesn't explain enough, I'm the one who flipped out with "something on my finger."

broadway girl said...

livie, you would be a great Ginger Rodgers! I think I could talk Mr. C into being Fred Astaire if you want.

Livie Lightyear said...

Talk to 'im about it. If he wants to do it-Great!

Joseph said...

Thank you for explaining all that to me. And Now I feel dumb because I know who all those people are (including you, Livie. "Oh, you dinglehead!"). I could see Nick as Fred Astaire. Hopefully he feels up to busting out "the rory". Maybe I could pull off a Errol Flynn. I have the pants I used for Emeror's N.C., so it might work out.

Going into the King Frost Parade sounds like a great idea. I think it is a go! Everyone else thinks it is a great idea. Also My mom and I have done floats for the king frost parade MANY timesw. It takes alot of work, but with the group of kids we have, i think it would be amazing!

broadway girl said...

Hey Livie, Nick said that he might be Fred Astaire, but you might have to convince him.

vogieairman said...

Hey,
Mikuki's would one of you like to play Oliver Hardy to my Stan Laurel, or maybe we could do the Three Stooges (nyuck, nyuck, nyuck).

Joseph said...

Nick, I'll play to your stan, and I will put him to shame. But how do I do the whole pot belly thing for Hardy? Pillows are no longer convincing. Three stooges would be fun as well. I will have to greatly discuss it with my parents.

Livie Lightyear said...

We'll have to talk about it more at the next rehearsal. That way we know for sure whats-what and all that rot. =) Sill me, I didnt even look up that date of the parade. xD

I was correcting a typo for 'sill' which was supposed to be 'silly', then I thought against it and deleted it. ._. I should really think twice before I click... ^^;;
